ITS Traffic Engineer

Position Description: We are seeking an ITS Traffic Engineer to join our team in DeLand, FL. This role will perform ITS and Traffic tasks related to ITS/Traffic Engineering projects. How will you contribute to the team?

  • Perform ITS/Traffic Engineering and design assignments of a varied nature, including experience or familiarity with some of the following transportation technology: Traffic Detection Systems, Traffic Signals, Transit Signal Priority, Adaptive Signal Control, Communications Networks, Lighting, Signing and Pavement Markings, and Safety-based solutions.

  • Develop drawings for traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, traffic control, lighting, and ITS for transportation projects.

  • Develop technical documents for complex, technology-based systems – technical specifications, modified special provisions, and more.

  • Review project submittals, including conceptual, preliminary, and final ITS, Signalization, and SPM plans.

  • Record review comments and confirm compliance to comments with responses and subsequent submittals.

  • Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.

  • Coordinates with other disciplines as required. Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.

  • Assist in performing post-design oversight such as shop drawing reviews and construction requests for information.

  • Perform basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, and marketing assistance.

  • Contribute expertise in advanced concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems.

  • Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills necessary for client-facing role as technical expert and mentor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.

  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S.

  • The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since bachelor’s degree.

  • Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.

  • CAD, MicroStation skills preferred.

  • E.I. or EIT is usually required.
