Position Description: We are seeking an ITS Traffic Engineer to join our team in DeLand, FL. This role will perform ITS and Traffic tasks related to ITS/Traffic Engineering projects. How will you contribute to the team?
Perform ITS/Traffic Engineering and design assignments of a varied nature, including experience or familiarity with some of the following transportation technology: Traffic Detection Systems, Traffic Signals, Transit Signal Priority, Adaptive Signal Control, Communications Networks, Lighting, Signing and Pavement Markings, and Safety-based solutions.
Develop drawings for traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, traffic control, lighting, and ITS for transportation projects.
Develop technical documents for complex, technology-based systems – technical specifications, modified special provisions, and more.
Review project submittals, including conceptual, preliminary, and final ITS, Signalization, and SPM plans.
Record review comments and confirm compliance to comments with responses and subsequent submittals.
Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
Coordinates with other disciplines as required. Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
Assist in performing post-design oversight such as shop drawing reviews and construction requests for information.
Perform basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, and marketing assistance.
Contribute expertise in advanced concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems.
Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.
Strong communication and leadership skills necessary for client-facing role as technical expert and mentor.
Qualifications and Experience:
B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
This level may be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S.
The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since bachelor’s degree.
Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
CAD, MicroStation skills preferred.
E.I. or EIT is usually required.
