ITS Engineer

Role Overview:
Metric is looking to hire for an ITS Engineer to work on ITS Design, Operations, and Planning. This role is well suited for a candidate seeking to work on a diverse mix of ITS engineering projects.
Day-to-Day:
Prepare project plans and specifications related to ITS elements such as fiber optic cable systems, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras, Microwave Vehicle Detection System (MVDS) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS)
Perform feasibility studies and concept design to support TSM&O initiatives and existing ITS device improvement and replacement projects
Design of gigabit Ethernet and fiber optic cable communications network
Design communications systems between field devices and traffic management centers
Design traffic signal systems
Develop and evaluate communication alternatives between field equipment and the traffic operations centers (gigabit Ethernet, fiber and wireless based systems)
Conduct ITS field reviews, data collection and analysis and preparation of satisfactory designs
Perform design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications
Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings
Review ITS plans & shop drawings
Manage a design team consisting of other engineers and designers/CADD technicians
What you should bring:
B.S.C.E. or B.S.E.E.
Professional Engineering License
Minimum 5+ years of Traffic/ITS engineering experience
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
Strong technical writing skills
Ability to organize projects and tasks, stay on schedule and meet required deadlines
Understanding of the FDOT Traffic Engineering Handbook, FDOT Specifications, Design Standards and supporting documents
