Description: Over the last decade, the advent of TSMO—the Transportation Systems Management and Operations field—has become widely recognized for its integral and essential role within the transportation ecosystem. Unlike some of the more established transportation disciplines, TSMO did not have an institutional support structure or a centralized home for collecting and disseminating best practice information, convening subject matter experts and identifying research needs and capabilities. The National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) was developed to meet this need. NOCoE’s core has been to emphasize how TSMO gets done in state, regional, and local DOTs. The presentation will share the products and services the Center provides to support the TSMO stakeholders. 

Presenter: Faisal Saleem serves as the Director, National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE). Through education, networking, communication, and knowledge transfer NOCoE provides centralized resources and services to support the transportation system management and operations (TSMO) stakeholders in workforce readiness, deployment of technology and practices, and mainstreaming of TSMO. 

Previously he served the Maricopa County Department ofTransportation as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Branch Manager and provided strategic direction, overall supervision, program management and staff development to advance the TSMO functions. 

Faisal has a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
